19 EETT’s operations in 8 prefectures to terminate illegal broadcasting during the first two months of 2014

EETT, within the first two months of 2014, performed 19 operations to locate and terminate
illegal transmissions in the prefectures of Attica, Corinth, Phocis, Iraklion, Mytilini, Cyclades,
Argolis and Preveza. These operations are part of EETT’s responsibilities for the supervision of
sensitive wireless networks related to the protection of human life and public safety.

In particular, as part of the flagrant crimes procedure, the Hellenic Police with the assistance
of EETT’s technical experts and in the presence of judicial officers terminated the operation and
confiscated the broadcasting equipment for:

• 14 radio stations and one (1) television station, which operated illegally, and one of them
  caused strong interference in the communication network of the Civil Aviation Authority.
• Two (2)  Private Mobile Radio (PMR) facilities.
• Two (2) illegal radio links for transferring program (one for radio and one for TV).
